Sampai
At 11:00 am the MONTHLY SAMPAI will begin with an offering ceremony, which includes group chanting of the Amatsunorito and the Zengensanji. After this, Steven Sensei will share the healing and purifying Light of Jyorei with everyone present. Then everyone will be invited to come downstairs to the garden for a gratitude circle and short talk about the healing power of nature as well as the performance of a song about nature.

Luncheon:
The sampai will be followed afterwards by a healthy and delicious lunch consisting fresh garden vegetables and other foods. Cost is $8.00 for adults and $4.00 for kids under 12. (Half price for Nature Club members.)

Please allow extra time for driving because this weekend is "Carmageddon," when the 405 freeway will be closed down from between the 10 and 101 freeways for major renovations. Expect huge traffic jams on all three of those freeways and possibly all over Los Angeles. If you live on the Westside, you may want to consider staying home. Shumei is a spiritual organization whose members come from all races, cultures and walks of life. 'Sampai' is a spiritual gathering incorporating Shinto-based rituals, chanting (in Japanese), Jyorei (spiritual healing), and live music. Shumei is dedicated to health, inner development, beauty and a pure environment. It's founder, Meishusama, said, "You can only be happy if you help others to be happy."
